Saying the same idea or question in a number of ways is an important strategy to support English Learners’ academic and content understanding. Each of those ways may be the one way that makes sense for a particular student.

Working in small groups or partners is an important strategy to support language development in any subject area. This small group setting allows students more opportunities to take risks with language and actively listen as they learn content and language from each other. The key is to organize the groupings and the activities to be effective. Here is a graphic organizer for you to plan your small group work.
